The first of the Apples & Thyme round-ups are in and make for some very wonderful reading at Vanielje's Kitchen and at The Passionate Palate. Make yourself a cup of coffee, get out the tissues and settle in for some heart-warming reading.

I'm pleased and proud to say that my Hummingbird Cake was chosen as the winner of The Great American Cooking Project's Big Bundt Appeciation Bake-Off. Thanks to my Mom for helping me choose a recipe and to my daughter helping me create a retro-looking photo. I even get a prize!

By now you may have noticed that I am a sucker for food and kitchen art. Karin Jurik paints a picture every day, many of them of food. Please go and browse through her work. I discovered Karin's work through Simply Magic, where Suzanne posts about whatever catches her eye..

When my sister Lisa threw a suprise engagement party for her daughter she out-Martha'd Martha Stewart by filling a tractor with ice and beer. This is no surprise to me, as she has a lovely playful design sense. I've bragged about her before and yes, I'm doing it again. Go see some of her work right now!

Congrats on the Bundt cake, love! I can vouch for the fact that it tasted as good as it looked.
