I think it's a good banner (I prefer it to the apples)-- just a nit to pick, though: part of the paintbrush should appear behind the wires of the whisk. My desktop is 1280 pixels wide, and I just realized you've configured the site to display best at a screen width of 1024 pixels. I've always wondered about all the white space to the right of the banner. Not that you should change it-- it would be such a pain to your readers who do have a screen width of 1024 pixels or less.

I read your About Us, it was a nice read :) Now that I think about it, I'm curious to see how you could incorporate quilting into the banner, like maybe an actual scan of a quilt. I've long thought about how to incorporate a cake or origami figures into my own banner but I settled on just plain text :) But then again, a quilt might be too quaint to represent Jack's contribution to the site.

I kind of liked the apples, maybe because I like apples. I read "About Us" and thought it was well done. But, why does the picture of my grandkids feature their feet and not their faces, at least on my computers?

Pieds Des Anges (Kyla)

Love the new banner, tres moderne. I say go with change! Will now go read the "about us."

Pieds Des Anges (Kyla)

I think the "about us" is charming. I see that we have a lot in common - can't settle on a profession!

ann

Oh, I love the new one! It's so wonderful! The apples were good, but this is great! Happy new year!

Marla

I like the new one ... it looks like the teapot is missing details ... the pie is detailed and to me it throws the balance off ... but then, it's not my banner. The "About Us" section is great!

Donna

Your site is fantastic.

Since getting mixed up with some foodies back in the 80's and losing touch with them in this century your blog has brought back many happy memories.

I too am trying to figure out what I'm going to be when (if) I ever grow up and have had careers ranging from interior designer to commercial truck driver. In fact I renewed my CDL today and would love to hit the road again.

Your site is fabulous - right on top of my favorites list. You are a talented writer and Jack appears to be a great partner who respects and supports what you do.
Cheers.

Kitty

great banner, and great site! I will definitely be back!

Tracy

I just don't have an opinion one way or another about the banner ... but I enjoyed your "about us" page! You are an interesting pair.

Vicki

I love both the About Us and the new banner. And I love that you enjoy thinking, but resent having to do so in order to make a living. I wish I had said that first.

Adele

The new banner is a good change. The apples were nice, but not particularly reflective of the blog content.

dhanggit

well as for me i love the two banners..both old and new.;but since its new year..better have a new banner to symbolize new change..besides all things new are good!!!

Leigh

I love the new banner -- it's fresh and seems to fit well with your artful kitchen series. I also love the "about us." I enjoy reading your updates each day! Thank you!

Mrs.W

Great new banner! Thanks for calling attention to it--I read you in a feed aggrigator, so don't always click through.

Zenchef

I like the new banner, it gives the blog a more modern 'twist'!
You have to tell me where to find people who design banners. I need one badly. I'm a computer dummy!

Scotty

Your banner/logo is who you are at the moment. Change is good!

Lisa

I like the new banner Ann.....I agree with the comment that the stem of the brush should be visable behind the whisk...I think the whisk would look less chunky. I think the tea pot could have a blue stripe on it..it does look very solid. I think your designer did a beautiful job....just impressions from another painter.

Ann

Manggy, thanks for the feedack! Each element of the banner is a separate painted piece, as we'd decided on a "painted collage," which explains why you cannot see the paintbrush behind the whisk. Not too sure images of my quilts would really represent Redacted Recipes...

Dad, I haven't asked them if I can show their faces and so I went with the silly photo of their feet. it was taken one day after we'd all been out to brunch and we noticed they all had on the same shoes.

kyla, thanks! And I hear you on the profession thing...

ann, so glad you like it!

Marla, I think you're right-- we should have added something to the teapot... oh well!

Donna, thank you so much for your kind words. it's good to know that people actually read these posts! Good luck with embracing the open road again!

kitty, thanks for stopping by!

Tracy, well, we do try to keep it interesting. :-)

Vicki, Jack expresses thisngs very well, doesn't he? :-)

Adele, glad you approve! How is your winter break going?

dhanggit, Nice to see you again! I think you're right about going with the new.

Leigh, Happy New Year, sweetie!

Mrs.W, good to see you again and thanks for stopping in to leave the feedback.

Zenchef, you know where to find me. :-)

Scotty, I'll take that as another thumbs-up. :-)

Lisa, I think you're right about a blue stripe on the teapot. Ah well... I'll know better next time.

Susan

Well, I like your new banner as it is. I liked your apples just fine, too, but this is a little more you. It's funky and very Williamsburg. Art isn't all about symmetry and realism, anyway.

Fun "About" page, too. After reading your bio's, I'm more convinced the banner suits you well.

Ann

Thanks, Susan! :-)
