What are you talking about, Ann? That is awesome. The "frou-frous" (er... baroque flourishes?) are a nice touch-- haven't seen that among the DBers today. And good idea skipping the whipped cream, that would've been an additive nightmare :) Excellent cake!

What a lovely tall cake you ened up with - mine was quite flat. And the piping - it is exquisite. I am inspired!

What an original cake, Ann! I love the buttercream curls. :)

Your decoration looks like a piece of Victorian upholstery, which makes this cake perfect for tea time! I'm in awe of anyone who's been able to turn on the oven in this hot and humid weather.

From one hot kitchen to another...stunning & oh so very pretty Ann. My poor man had earfuls of swearing & muttering too!! LOL!! I love everything about your gateau...the piping the best. Am keen to know about your stress free buttercream...maybe you will post it one day! Great great gateau!!

WOW...your cake looks great and I love the scroll decorating! And your layers are so nice and even. Yep you sure did make up for the Opera Cake...this one's a beaut!!

The cake looks beautiful!! I wish I could have had a slice :) but I guess it disappeared too fast! The piping is perfect.

Ann, your cake and piping are stunning! I clearly need more practice with decorating. This was a fun challenge!

Anne-- your cake looks gorgeous and your piping is amazing. I agree with you on the initial flavors of the cake. I wasn't expecting to like the chocolate, orange, hazelnut combo but it was delicious.
